* Faculty and staff are still needed to help with WSU's Distinguished Scholarship Invitational, on Saturday, Nov. 16. Volunteers will serve as observers and watch students participate in small group activities and rate their leadership skills. The approximate time commitment is 7:30 a.m.-noon. * Congressman Mike Pompeo will speak to professor Ken Ciboski's American Politics class at 11 a.m. today (Monday, Nov. 4) in 204 McKinley Hall. Faculty and staff are welcome.
* Learn what causes insomnia, ways to change your sleep habits, and ultimately, how to get some Zzz's in a presentation from noon-12:30 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 4) in 206 Heskett Center. Come receive some great tips from the Counseling and Testing Center's Jessica Provines, and enjoy light refreshments.
* "How Do Biological Enzymes Work?" will be the topic of the public chemistry lecture in the Watkins Visiting Professorship Lecture Series at 3:30 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 4) in 224 McKinley Hall. The guest lecturer is Sharon Hammes-Schiffer, Swanlund chair and professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois-Champaign.
* Faculty and staff are invited to discuss the future of Honors at Wichita State at information and conversation sessions hosted by Emory Lindquist Honors and the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Please join us for one of two sessions: 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, or 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in 231 Hubbard Hall.
* The Unclassified Professionals Senate invites all UP employees to the Fall General Meeting at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in 211 Hubbard Hall. Attendees will hear updates from President John Bardo, Vice President for Academic Affairs Tony Vizzini, Vice President for Campus Life and University Relations Wade Robinson, and Director of Governmental Relations Andy Schlapp. Refreshments will be served.
