CSD Supports Haiti

Faculty, staff and students from the College of Health Professions joined together for a life-changing experience in offering front-line health care services to those in Pierre Payan, Haiti, this November.

Lisa Clancy, assistant to the chair and Clinic Director of Communication Sciences and Disorders, traveled there for her first time to help the WSU team. She commented: "It was an amazing experience; something everyone should try at least once. You really never know what to expect until you actually go there." Although not a health care professional herself, Clancy used her organizational support skills to assist in the operating room, film video of surgeries and comfort those who might have been a bit uneasy getting their first blood test, etc.

The WSU team this fall consisted of Clancy; Jean Brickell, chair of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and a couple of her MLS students.
