Wichita Public Radio and Exploration Place present a mashup of mathematical proportions. Join other KMUW listeners at Exploration Place to hear a presentation by Beau Jarvis, professor of music at Friends University. With Jarvis on keyboard, Randy Zellers on guitar and Jeff Stidham on drums, the trio will explore harmonic series, rhythm and meter, chord progressions and more with original jazz compositions. Explore the sound of music, as described by mathematicians.

Before the presentation, munch on mathematically inspired snacks from Anna Murdoc's Cafe, spherical desserts from Wichita Cake Creations and one free layered cocktail from Xclusive Bartending. A cash bar will also be available.

After the Music Tasting, enjoy an exclusive preview of the traveling exhibit MathAlive! Through the inspiring exhibition, you can design and play your own video game, operate simulations of NASA robots like the Curiosity rover, play a giant musical instrument, and otherwise explore the endless possibilities of math through nearly 40 interactive experiences. MathAlive! doesn't open to the public until February, except for you.
