* The Spring 2014 Physics Seminar Series opens at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 29) in 128 Jabara Hall. Opening the spring schedule will be a presentation by professor Carlos Trallero of Kansas State University, titled, "Ultra-fast Laser Physics: My computer will be faster than yours." * A new geographical information systems (GIS) support group for faculty and staff will begin meeting today (Wednesday, Jan. 29) and continue to meet this term on Wednesdays from 3:30-5 p.m. in 326A Lindquist Hall. * Meet members of the WSU fraternity and sorority community at "Meet the Greeks" during Student Involvement's SpringFest from 5-7 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 29) on the second floor of the Heskett Center. * Nominations are now being accepted now until noon Friday, Feb. 21, for the President's Award for Distinguished Service for Unclassified Professionals. Nominees should have provided exemplary, dedicated and caring service to Wichita State University beyond the normal expectations and responsibilities of their position and must have a .5 or greater appointment as an Unclassified Professional.
