Special Programs Information Fair coming Feb. 5

If you've ever wondered about extra resources available to students at Wichita State University, the Special Programs Information Fair may have answers for you. The event will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, near the food court on the first floor of Rhatigan Student Center. It will be an opportunity for the WSU community to become more familiar with TRIO, GEAR Up and the Office of Disability Services.

Special Programs include nine federally funded TRIO programs, the Office of Disability Services and Kansas Kids @ GEAR Up. These programs motivate and support students in pursuit of higher education -- providing such services as scholarships, academic tutoring, personal counseling, mentoring and financial guidance. Wichita State has sponsored TRIO programs for 46 years and currently has the largest set of programs of any college campus in the United States.

Faculty, staff and students attending the Information Fair will not only learn about the 11 programs that make up the Office of Special Programs, but also about services available to students. The event will also provide the opportunity to learn about the possibility for collaboration with Special Programs and targeting services to the students that are served. Lastly, those in attendance will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing for prizes.
