Faculty and teaching staff are invited to this free workshop and discussion on SoTL, offered by the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in 105 Lindquist Hall. The idea behind SoTL is to experiment with innovative methods for teaching specific subjects, classes and/or topics; conduct controlled research studies to assess the effectiveness of those new methods; and disseminate the findings through scholarly publications designed to help colleagues in your field teach, and to help students learn more effectively. SoTL is one way to do what Boyer calls "the scholarship of teaching."
