* The Spring 2014 Physics Seminar Series continues with a lecture by professor E. Craig Dukes from the University of Virginia at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) in 128 Jabara Hall. The lecture is titled "Probing the Frontiers of Physics Using Rare Particle Decays."

* The Spring 2104 Chemistry Colloquium Series continues with a lecture by Chris Elles from the University of Kansas at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) in 224 McKinley Hall. The lecture is titled "Using Lasers to Selectively Control the Reaction Dynamics of a Photochromic Molecular Switch."

* To receive your HealthQuest discount you must complete the Health Assessment Questionnaire, that requires you to provide biometric information (blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, etc.). To help you accomplish this, WSU will host free biometrics screenings today (Wednesday, Feb. 26) and Thursday, Feb. 27, in 142 (Harvest Room) RSC. It is sponsored by HealthQuest, and the testing is conducted in 30 minutes or less using a simple finger stick. * "Putting 1970s Blaxploitation Films in Historical Perspective" will be presented by Robert E. Weems, Jr., the Willard W. Garvey Distinguished Professor of Business History at WSU, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in 208 Hubbard Hall. Weems will discuss the business, economic and social dynamics of the 1970s "Blaxploitation" film genre. Attendees also will view the film "Shaft," directed by famous native Kansan Gordon Parks, whose papers are housed in Ablah Library. * A training session on using Windows 8.1 will be offered from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in 119 Jabara Hall. This hands-on training will help the user learn to use the new Windows 8 interface to navigate their computer. * Based on an anticipated COBRE-PSF Renewal, the KU NIH COBRE Center in Protein Structure and Function at the University of Kansas has issued an Advisory Notice of Anticipated Call for Applications.
