Seeking service-learning fellows

In response to a Service-Learning Plan developed in 2013 by faculty and staff, the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Campus Life and University Relations are collaborating to begin formal work to move service-learning forward on campus by identifying best practices, guidelines and resources to assist faculty in developing new service-learning courses and provide support for existing service-learning activities, among other things.

This initiative supports WSU's strategic plan, specifically its focus on applied learning. Activities will be coordinated out of the Office of Student Involvement with the help of two service-learning faculty fellows.

Selected fellows will be from the ranks of full-time faculty experienced in service-learning. They will work intensely during the summer starting Sunday, June 8, but be expected to be available during the next academic year for smaller tasks.

Additional compensation will be provided. If interested, please submit a letter of application describing previous service-learning experience, ideas for formalizing service-learning at WSU and a letter of support from your immediate supervisor to Rick Muma, associate vice president for Academic Affairs, box 13, by Friday, April 18, or email richard.muma@wichita.edu.
