Keynote lecture to feature Martin H. Bush

The 40th anniversary celebration of the Ulrich Museum continues with a lecture by founding director Martin H. Bush at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in 209 Hubbard Hall. Admission is free.

Persuaded by then WSU President Clark Ahlberg to leave his position at Syracuse University, Bush arrived in Wichita in 1971 to serve as Vice President of Academic Resources and director of the Ulrich Museum of Art at WSU.

Bush recounts highlights of his 20-year tenure, including his friendship with Edwin A. Ulrich of Hyde Park, N.Y., the museum's first major benefactor; Bush's successful pursuit of Joan Miro to create Wichita's masterpiece of public art, Personnages Oiseaux (Bird People), 1978; and how he came to bring dozens of international art world celebrities to campus.

Don't miss Wichita's art lecture of the decade, presented by Fidelity Foundation.
