Wichita business community to judge startup ideas

The future of the Kansas economy will be on display from 3-6 p.m. today (Friday, April 25) at Charles Koch Arena, when 20 student teams exhibit their product and service startup ideas to more than 150 members of the Wichita business community serving as judges.

It's the Trade Show round of the Shocker New Venture Competition presented by the WSU Center for Entrepreneurship.

Judges will be given 10,000 Shocker Dollars to invest in the ideas they believe have the best chance of becoming real-world businesses.

The eight teams receiving the largest investments will move to the semi-finals (and four to the finals) held Friday, May 2, in Devlin Hall. The winners will be announced at 5 p.m. May 2 at a reception in the Devlin lobby.

Students will be competing for $32,000 in prize money donated by Wichita businesses.
