2014 Fairmount Society Dinner goes international

Colorful costumes, exotic flowers, international cuisine -- all set the tone as Elizabeth King, WSU Foundation president and CEO, welcomed nearly 200 guests to the 2014 Fairmount Society Dinner hosted by the WSU Foundation on May 8 at the Wichita Marriott. A global theme marked the event, which honors new members to the Fairmount Society as well as those being awarded for their support of Wichita State.

Five new Lifetime Members and five new Lifetime Distinction Members have joined the Fairmount Society since early last year. They have contributed $250,000 or more and $500,000 or more during their lifetimes, respectively.

Four new Lifetime Achievement Members were recognized: Bill and Dorothy Cohen, the Flossie E. West Memorial Trust, Charles and Liz Koch and John A. See. Lifetime Achievement membership is extended to donors whose total outright giving is $1 million or more during their lifetime.

John and Barbara McCune were celebrated as the 2014 Fairmount Founders' Award recipients and Nancy Martin was presented with the 2014 Board of Trustees' Award.

Entertainment was provided by East High School students performing a Lion Dance and a WSU student dance group, Rhydhun, performing a Bollywood medley and a folk-dance style called Garba.
