WSU's Midwest Criminal Justice Institute helps provide training

On May 7, law enforcement officials from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, FBI, Wichita Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Department, Texas Rangers, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and additional agencies used the Kansas Aviation Museum as a mock crime scene to practice new 3D scanning technology.

This work was part of their two-day 3D Terrestrial Scanning Conference, which was sponsored by the KBI and the Midwest Criminal Justice Institute at Wichita State University.

The training provided the agencies, using multiple scanners, an opportunity to document a scene just as they would in a real-life crime situation that would require many agencies to work together.

Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Midwest Criminal Justice Institute at Wichita State are leading the initiative to be prepared for a major incident.
