Wichita State announces new CIO

James 'Jim' Pulliam was named Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Wichita State starting July 1.

"We are fortunate to get someone with Jim's background and experience," said Tony Vizinni, vice president for Academic Affairs. "He will allow us to continue our great strides throughout the university."

Pulliam brings nearly 30 years of information technology experience in aerospace, municipal government and academia. In addition to a diversity of work environments, Jim has been involved in nearly all levels of IT operations including design, development, implementation, and aligning technology to the strategic plans of organizations.

Having served as Chief Information Security Officer in the past on several occasions, he brings to WSU an awareness of the numerous threats to IT systems and data along with experience in how best to protect university IT assets.

Along with his CIO responsibilities, Pulliam will join David Wright, associate vice president for Academic Data Systems and Chief Data Officer, to form a partnership to ensure security, data integrity and delivery of information to university personnel for decision-making and strategic planning.
