* University Libraries is offering one-hour workshops on citation searching for all interested faculty, including those preparing tenure, promotion and other documents. The first workshop will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. All workshops will be held in 217 Ablah Library. The next workshop will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30. * Celebrate the research efforts of students in the McNair Program at this year's 19th Annual Closing Symposium from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, July 25, at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Suderman Room. * A biometric screening, including lab work, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and BMI, is available year-round on a walk-in basis from 8-11 a.m. Monday through Friday for faculty and staff at Student Health Services in Ahlberg Hall. Remember to fast 10-12 hours prior to the appointment, except for water and medications. The cost is $25.
* Academic Affairs is simplifying its official hospitality reimbursement process for candidate searches. Learn about these important changes before they take effect in fiscal year 2015. The Official Hospitality Training Session will be offered from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, in 127 Jabara Hall. This is important training for all university departmental personnel involved in processing reimbursement requests. * You are invited to a farewell reception for Bill Vanderburgh, executive director of the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success (OFDSS) and associate professor in the department of philosophy, from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in 266 RSC. There will be remarks at 2:30 p.m. Vanderburgh will become associate vice president for academic affairs, dean of undergraduate studies and professor of philosophy at California State University, San Bernardino, on Aug. 4.
* Because of a move to Brennan Hall II, the Counseling & Testing Center will be closed through Thursday, July 24. In the event of an emergency or mental health crisis, call University Police at 978-3450 and Counseling & Testing Center staff will be notified immediately. In addition, the center's main number, 978-3440, will be checked frequently in order to serve faculty and staff with questions or other concerns.
