* University Libraries is offering one-hour workshops on citation searching for all interested faculty, including those preparing tenure, promotion and other documents. The workshops will be from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7; Tuesday, Aug. 12; and Wednesday, Aug. 27. All workshops will be held in 217 Ablah Library. * The Wichita Medical Research and Education Foundation is pleased to announce a Collaborative Investigator Initiated Research funding opportunity of $15,000. The purpose of this research program is to provide investigators with short-term funding in the areas of social/behavioral, biological, genetic, or environmental determinants of disease and/or health, either physical or mental, across the life span. * KMUW offers free calendar strips for computer monitors, desk edges and cubical walls. Calendars are 13.5 inches by 1 inch. These calendar strips adhere to computer monitors or just about any surface you choose. The 2014-15 academic year-at-a-glance calendar is a handy reference. Anyone wanting one or more for your department should call 978-6789 or send an email request to info@kmuw.org.

* The free summer music series "Art for Your Ears" will feature the Cherokee Maidens at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at McKnight Outdoor Plaza (between the Ulrich Museum and School of Art and Design). The Cherokee Maidens cover old western swing, jazz and original tunes. They all share Cherokee Indian Heritage and Great Plains roots.
