* WSU's Research and Technology Transfer is cohosting an event with Wichita Manufacturer's Association on Midwest Manufacturing Competitiveness Thursday, Aug. 14, at the National Center for Aviation Training auditorium. Speakers will include Chad Wilkerson from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City talking about manufacturing competitiveness in the Midwest, and WSU's John Tomblin discussing what the new Innovation Campus will mean for industry and manufacturing growth and diversification. * The Office of Human Resources administers the employee tuition assistance program for benefits-eligible, nonteaching employees of the university. The deadline to apply for spring courses is Dec. 12. The deadline for seminars is still three weeks prior to the first day of the seminar. * University Libraries is offering one-hour workshops on citation searching for all interested faculty, including those preparing tenure, promotion and other documents. The workshops will be from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7; Tuesday, Aug. 12; and Wednesday, Aug. 27. All workshops will be held in 217 Ablah Library. * The Human Performance Laboratory in the Department of Human Performance Studies is looking for male golfers with a 3-8 golf handicap between the ages of 20 and 55 to participate in a double-blind, placebo controlled trial to test the effects of a nutritional supplement on golf-specific and biophysical measures of performance during a 36-hole golf tournament. A cash prize will be awarded for finishing in 1st and 2nd place.
