* Consider joining the Council of University Women (CUW), an organization serving the women of Wichita State to promote friendly spirit of comradery and personal growth and support the efforts of women students through perpetuating an Endowed Scholarship Fund, established in 1990. Membership is open to all female faculty and staff except student assistants for $10 per academic year. * Faculty and staff are welcome to submit questions to President Bardo in advance of his presentation "WSU Transformation: Becoming the Innovation University" at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, 305/306 Rhatigan Student Center. * Faculty and staff with yellow parking permits must park in designated yellow or yellow/green parking lots on the main campus. Unlike last year, vehicles with yellow permits that are parked in green lots will be ticketed by the WSU Police Department.

* Join in celebrating the grand opening of Shocker Hall, Wichita State's most recent housing expansion, at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, for the dedication and open house. Tours of the facilities, information on living learning communities and light refreshments will be provided. This event is open to the public.

* KMUW offers free calendar strips for computer monitors, desk edges and cubical walls. Calendars are 13.5 inches by 1 inch. These calendar strips adhere to computer monitors or just about any surface you choose. The 2014-15 academic year-at-a-glance calendar is a handy reference. Anyone wanting one or more for your department should call 978-6789 or send an email request to info@kmuw.org.

* Learn how University Libraries supports instruction and research at a library orientation created especially for all instructors. Dates and times for faculty and teaching assistants are 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 (presession); 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 15 (presession; created especially for faculty); noon-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15 (presession; created especially for teaching assistants); and noon-1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, for all instructors.
