* The deadline to join the International Student Union's Buddy Program is Friday, Aug. 22. This is a support initiative to help exchange students adjust to a new country, culture and atmosphere more quickly so that they may have a good experience during their stay at Wichita State. If you are interested in becoming a buddy, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3095 for an application, and http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3094 for more information.
* Come to the Heskett Center and enjoy a glimpse of what Campus Recreation has to offer from 7-10 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 21). From the depths of the pool to the top of Mt. Wu, we'll showcase it all, along with fun, games and giveaways. Top the night off with a volleyball game in the pool. Bring your swimsuits and join in the fun. Added bonus: additional prizes will be available for those who participate in the water volleyball game.
* The Human Performance Laboratory in the Department of Human Performance Studies is looking for male recreational golfers with a 3-9 golf handicap between the ages of 20-55 years to participate in a double-blind, placebo controlled trial to test the effects of a nutritional supplement on golf-specific and biophysical measures of performance during a 36-hole golf tournament. Tee times are available today (Thursday, Aug. 21) to Sunday, Aug. 24. A cash prize will be awarded for finishing in 1st and 2nd place, with grab bag gifts for all golfers.
