* The fall Anthropology Colloquium series will feature graduate student Kohl Dothage presenting "Urbanization, Violence and Neocolonialism in Modern Guatemala," at 4 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 4), in 117 Neff Hall. The presentation is free and open to WSU faculty, staff and students.
* Kansas NSF EPSCoR is announcing a funding opportunity for First Awards in the areas of climate or energy research or atomic/molecular/optical science. The First Award program helps early career faculty become competitive for funding from the research directorates at the National Science Foundation. The letter of intent submission deadline is Monday, Sept. 8. The first proposal deadline is Monday, Oct. 27. * Apple has implemented a new purchasing system. Learn how to place orders using Purchase Orders and P-Cards. Make sure your orders have the proper information to ensure timely delivery from both Apple and WSU's Shipping/Receiving Department. This training session will be held from 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in 124 Jabara Hall. To register for the class, log in to myWSU, select EmpHelp, (orange cube under the Weather) and myTraining. * The Division of Academic Affairs and the Faculty Senate are hosting a series of workshops and webinars during the year for faculty and staff to learn more about Credit for Prior Learning and Competency-based Education. * All University Support Staff (USS) will continue to be evaluated in the Performance Management System (CEEDS) for the current review period ending Sept. 30. The following review period will be shortened from Oct. 1, 2014, to Feb. 28, 2015, to accommodate the transition to the revised USS performance evaluation annual cycles beginning March 1, 2015. Until March 1, supervisors of USS should continue to log in to CEEDS to access the evaluations. Training on the current CEEDS system, which is listed in myTraining, will continue until the new evaluation is implemented. Training on the new evaluation will be published beginning in 2015.
