Reminders

* It is never too late to learn to swim. People of all ages are invited to participate in group or private swimming lessons for adults, children and parents and tots together at the Heskett Center Sept. 29-Oct. 25. * There will be a test of the ShockerAlert System at about 1 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 26) to ensure that campus-wide emergency communication channels are functioning properly. * Come and wish Jeanne Hopkins a happy and relaxing retirement as she steps down from her position with WSU Career Services. A come-and-go reception in her honor will be held from 2-4 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 26) in 262 RSC. Hopkins worked in WSU's Career Services for 20 years.

"The use of analogy in the works of Darwin, Einstein and Turing" is the title of the inaugural lecture by Susan G. Sterrett, Curtis D. Gridley Professor in the History and Philosophy of Science, at 3:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 26) in 127 Jabara Hall. Admission is free.

* The David and Sally Jackman Lecture Series and the WSU Department of Anthropology will present "Religion, Ethnicity and War in the Levant: How to Make Sense of the Syrian Conflict?," at 4 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 26) in 100 Lindquist Hall. The featured speaker is Joshua Landis, director of the Center for Middle East Studies and associate professor at the University of Oklahoma.

* Wichita State's School of Performing Arts will present "The Spitfire Grill," at 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 26) and Saturday, Sept. 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in Wilner Auditorium. * Applications are being accepted for Multidisciplinary Research Projects (MURPA) and University Research/Creative Projects (URCA). This will be the second round of funding for Fiscal Year 2015.
