KMUW's Night Train features 'Jazz Noir'
Jazz has often been associated with film noir (though, interestingly, the classic early films used little, if any jazz in their soundtracks) and the great hard-boiled detective stories like The Maltese Falcon.
Night Train explores the connections between jazz and noir with music from the era, the later "crime jazz" soundtracks and contemporary music that harkens back to that era or evokes the dark, mysterious, and at times even dangerous atmosphere of the books and films.
Night Train airs at 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday on KMUW FM 89.1, Wichita Public Radio. For more about the feature, nightly shows, the streaming archive player to listen to past Night Train programs and more, visit the Night Train page on the KMUW website at http://kmuw.org/programs/night-train
