* Faculty and staff are needed to help answer pledge phones during KMUW's Fall on-air pledge drive that begins Wednesday, Oct. 22. Volunteers will input each caller's pledge data on a computer. And because procedures are always evolving, you are expected to attend at least one (an hour or less) training session at KMUW. * Kansas NSF EPSCoR has announced a funding opportunity for Education and Diversity Grants in the areas of climate or energy research or atomic/molecular/optical science. The submission deadline is Monday, Nov. 3. Education and Diversity Grants are designed to enhance science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in Kansas by supporting activities that will lead to an expanded STEM workforce or prepare a new generation for STEM careers in the areas of climate or energy research or atomic/molecular/optical science. * SAC is looking for university departments or student groups to sign up and register a car for this year's Trunk or Treat from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the parking lot northeast of Eck Stadium. The rain location is the Shirley Beggs Ballroom in the RSC. Admission is $3 per child. * Volunteers are needed to help with the 5K Pumpkin Run from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Duties range from providing water at the water stop, manning the fruit stations and being in the cheer squad cheering on the participants.
