President John Bardo declared the holiday closedown for 2014 will commence at the end of the day Friday, Dec. 19, and campus will reopen Monday morning, Jan. 5. Please see http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3389 to review the closedown dates that will not be covered by state holidays.

It is important to note that the governor did include some holiday hours that we don't normally receive -- a half day on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas have been declared additional designated holidays.

Also note that the 2014 discretionary day must be used by Dec. 20; so a discretionary day used during the holiday closedown will be the discretionary day for 2015.

An employee must be in pay status the entire workday before and the entire workday after state holidays in order to receive holiday credit.
