Reminders
* The offices of Equal Employment Opportunity and Human Resources are announcing training on new Policy 3.46, Veterans Preference in the Application Process. This new policy shows WSU's commitment to employing those who have served our country. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3437 for information on upcoming training sessions.
* Student Involvement invites departments to sponsor an event during Wu Wednesdays for an opportunity to highlight programs and services of WSU departments and student groups. Student Involvement will have a publicity campaign advertising all Wu Wednesday events. Direct questions to Jeff Nilsen at jeffrey.nilsen@wichita.edu. Register at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?2557
* The 2014 holiday closedown will commence at the end of the day Friday, Dec. 19, and campus will reopen Monday morning, Jan. 5. Please see http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3389 to review the closedown dates that will not be covered by state holidays. It is important to note that the governor did include some holiday hours that we don't normally receive -- a half day on Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas have been declared additional designated holidays. Also note that the 2014 discretionary day must be used by Dec. 20; so a discretionary day used during the holiday closedown will be the discretionary day for 2015. For more information, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3423
* The Kansas Legislature has authorized a one-time $250 bonus payment to each full-time employee (1.00 FTE) who has been continuously employed on a full-time basis with the State since late November 2013. The bonus will be received on your Dec. 5, 2014 pay advice (PP# 11/09/2014-11/22/2014) and will show on your pay advice as BOL (Bonus-Legislature Authorized). Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3432 for more information.
