CPR/AED Clinic available for faculty, staff and students

An adult CPR/AED Clinic will be available for faculty, staff and students at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in 134 Heskett Center. The cost is $10. The clinic will be conducted by Frank Rokosz, associate professor of Human Performance Studies.

Prior to attending the clinic, you should purchase and read the following American Red Cross book: First Aid/CPR/AED Participants Manual [StayWell Stock # 656731]. It may be purchased at the WSU bookstore.

Before attending the clinic, you should become familiar with the adult material in the first four chapters (the child and infant material is not part of this clinic). Having a prior working knowledge of how to do the five skill demonstrations involved (Check Unconscious Person, CPR, Unconscious Choking, Conscious Choking, AED) will aid in the learning process.

Red Cross certification in Adult CPR/AED results from successful completion of the skill demonstrations and a passing grade of at least 70 percent on a multiple-choice written test.

IMPORTANT NOTE: official Red Cross certification is optional, as is the written test. If you earn certification, and you actually want a certification card, you will have to pay an extra $19 (this is a certification fee that goes to the Red Cross).
