Community Service Board wins regional award, collects canned food
This group has had a busy fall semester.
The National Association of Campus Activities Central Region Giving Back Award was awarded to Wichita State University/Community Service Board for Wu's Big Event Fall 2014. This event brought students, faculty, staff and alumni to 24 different service sites completing 501 hours of service in two days.
The first annual Hunger Games competition sponsored by the Community Service Board and Student Activities Council is complete. After a month of collecting, the teams that participated successfully collected 5,872 pounds of items. All items were donated to the Union Rescue Mission of Wichita.
The Community Service Board has a goal of completing 1,895 hours of community service in the school year, and after almost three months of school being in session, the group has volunteered for a collective total of 924 hours.
