WSU Foundation spreading holiday cheer with coats and food

The WSU Foundation and several campus partners completed its first project for its adopted school, TOP North Early Learning Center, by collecting 28 coats for the Candy COATed Drive -- Treat Kids with Warmth. WSU Foundation staff, WSU cheerleaders and WU helped deliver the coats. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3474 to view photos of the children.

The next project is the Little Turkey's Food Drive, now through Friday, Nov. 21. The goal is to send each child home with a food care package for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Drop-off locations are Woodman Alumni Center, Charles Koch Arena by the ticket booths, One-Stop in 122 Jabara Hall, Fairmount Towers and Student Health Services in 209 Ahlberg Hall. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3475 for a list of needed items.

In addition to special projects, WSU Foundation staff have been volunteering at the school reading to students, organizing books in the library and helping teachers with other projects.

TOP North Early Learning Center is located close to WSU at Grove and Opportunity Drive, and has about 220 students. There are a total of three centers, which offer a full-day, year-round academic program to children ages 1-5 years old. Its mission is to deliver a high-quality early learning experience to children living in poverty, providing them the tools needed for emotional, academic and lifelong success.
