* On Jan. 1, the KPERS 1 member contribution rate increased from 5 percent to 6 percent. This is the final contribution rate increase from legislation aimed at improving the retirement system's long-term funding. In addition, the benefit multiplier will be increased from 1.75 to 1.85 percent for all years of service. For more information go to http://www.kpers.org/changes/index.html
* Blackboard has alerted us that they will perform infrastructure maintenance at the datacenter that houses some of our Blackboard Learn services from 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, to 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?3570 for information about the impact.
* The upcoming deadline for award for research/creative projects is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, to RTT. Applications are being accepted for the award for research/creative projects to enable faculty to pursue research or creative projects during the summer.
