Alternative Spring Break deemed a success

Alternative Spring Break Washington D.C., was a success. Shockers made a difference in our nation's capitol. Working with the Youth Service Opportunities Project based in Washington D.C., WSU students connected with a variety of nonprofit organizations with a focus on ending poverty, homelessness and hunger in the Washington D.C. metro area. Student testimonial including photos and highlights from the trip can been viewed at http://www.wichita.edu/springbreak.

Students worked with A Wider Circle, Food & Friends, Capital Area Food Bank, Parks & People, Seabury Resources for Aging, and prepared a meal to share with members of the D.C. homeless community.

ASB Washington D.C. and Student Involvement also thank an anonymous donor and the Rhatigan Student Center for their generous donations to make this trip possible for our students. This support was key to the impact of this program.

Finally, we want to thank Congressman Mike Pompeo's staff team for hosting our Shockers in his office and providing information about careers in politics, internships, policy and issue reform.
