Psychology Department Colloquium to feature John Porcerelli

A Psychology Department Colloquium will feature a presentation by John Porcerelli from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, in Lowe Auditorium, Hughes Metropolitan Complex. The talk is titled "Training Mental Health Professionals to Work Collaboratively with Primary Care Physicians: Lessons from the Other WSU."

Porcereli is director of Behavioral Medicine and Research at Wayne State University. He is director of the Primary Care Psychology Training Program, and he oversees the psychosocial and scholarship training of residents in the WSU/Crittenton Family Medicine Residency Program.

He has published widely and his research interests include the process of collaborative care/dual interviewing, and the impact of personality disorders on health care utilization and cost. Most of his clinical research has been focused on the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of personality disorders. Porcerelli's work is of interest nationally and locally.

This colloquium will be community-wide and is being co-sponsored by WSU's College of Health Professions and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita.
