HALO honors civil rights activist and labor rights leader

Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) hosted Si Se Puede Day (Yes, We Can!) recently at WSU. In honor of civil rights activist and labor rights leader Cesar Chavez, HALO invites high school students to participate in workshops that help develop their leadership strengths, team building skills, and informs them on the resources available at Wichita State. More than 100 students attended. Maria Sotomayor, who overcame hardships to attend college and obtain her bachelor's degree in psychology, was a guest speaker along with WSU alum, Delia Garcia, the youngest and first Latina to serve as a member of the Kansas House of Representatives.
