Mental Health First Aid courses available

The Counseling & Testing Center is offering Mental Health First Aid courses to the WSU community to help individuals better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses. To register, go to the myTraining tab under the Faculty/Staff tab in myWSU.

It is estimated that at any given point, about 20 percent of the population suffers from a mental disorder, however, less than half are being treated by a professional. Studies have shown that having the support of someone they know significantly increases the chance of an individual seeking professional help.

This course aims to help students, faculty and staff learn how to better recognize and intervene with at-risk individuals on campus who may be developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
