Statement from WSU President John Bardo on state budget issues
What does that mean to you and to Wichita State?
I’m cautiously optimistic the Legislature will resolve the issue this week. If that happens, we’ll reopen Monday, June 8, as usual.
But we also need to plan for the possibility of furloughs if there’s no state authorization to pay employees beginning Sunday, June 7.
All state agencies and their employees are facing the same issue.
Even if the state budget isn’t resolved by Sunday, we will strive to continue to teach summer-term courses and maintain essential operations.
We will let you know more, as we know more.
I’m interested in your questions and observations. Please send them to president@wichita.edu.
