Countryman-Roswurm to serve as expert at White House event

Karen Countryman-Roswurm, executive director of the WSU Center for Combating Human Trafficking, will serve as an expert on identification, assessment and data collection at the White House in Washington on Wednesday, June 10, as a part of the National Convening on Trafficking and Child Welfare.

Hosted by the White House and sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, and Children's Bureau, this two-day event will assist states in preparing for the mandates put in place by the Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act of 2014.

Together with national and international experts, representatives from all 50 states will develop a plan of action to address the new mandates with the hope of better serving children and youth who are at risk for or subjugated to human trafficking. Additionally, the gathering will provide state representatives access to best practices and the latest research from the anti-trafficking field.
