The Office for Student Money Management (OSMM) provided access to the website MyFreeTaxes.com for free tax-filing preparation to Wichita State students, faculty and staff with household incomes of $60,000 or less. More than 450 individuals in Wichita used this site, with OSMM serving 366 of these individuals through one-on-one appointments with peer financial coaches (PFC) guiding them through the process of independently filing their taxes. It is estimated that OSMM helped save the WSU community more than $46,000 in tax preparation fees based on national averages for nonitemized filing.
