The Shocker Recruitment Network program at Wichita State was created in response to the desire of alumni to help their alma mater, and the University's need for ambassadors. The purpose of this program is to extend the reach of the Office of Admissions through the volunteer recruitment efforts of enthusiastic, well-trained and knowledgeable alumni and Shocker supporters throughout the nation.

Members of the Shocker Recruitment Network will provide one-on-one interaction, personal attention and encouragement by identifying and maintaining contact with prospective students from their geographic area and community. They will be able to do so by participating in any of the following activities to support the Wichita State Office of Undergraduate Admissions:

- Informal representation within their community
- Referral of prospective students to WSU
- Assisting admissions staff members at college fairs
- Representing WSU at college fairs, if admissions staff members are unable to attend
- Attending programs at key points in the recruitment cycle
- Sharing trends and valuable developments discovered in their respective areas
