Reminders Reminders

* To observe the Perseid meteor shower in a dark location with other meteor-watching enthusiasts, Lake Afton Public Observatory will be open from midnight-3 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. There is no charge for watching the meteor shower outside, but if you join us inside the observatory, regular admission charges apply. In honor of the meteor shower, anyone who comes in the observatory with some form of appropriate shower attire -- rain coat, umbrella, bar of soap, towel, etc., will receive $1 off regular admission.

* Let's get ready for a successful year of teaching and research. John Belt from the Academy for Effective Teaching will highlight the "Importance of the First Day of Class." Fran Cook from RTT will discuss finding funding, grant writing, budgeting, managing awards and licensing intellectual property from 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, in 301 RSC (Gridley Room). * The Office of Adult Learning invites you to join them for an open house from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, inside entrance D at Hughes Metropolitan Complex. There will be light refreshments, including brownies.

* Volunteers are needed to help with Student Involvement's Back to School Bash, 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in the RSC courtyard. There will be inflatables, midway games, food, a picture booth and more. This is a great way to interact with students and welcome them back to campus. * WSU Housing and Residence Life is seeking volunteers to help with move-in from 8 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 14, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.
