* All university employees are invited to hear a campus update from President John Bardo and faculty and staff speakers focusing on the strategic goals. Please join us at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in the RSC's Shirley Beggs Ballroom.

* Learn how University Libraries supports instruction and research at a library orientation created especially for all instructors. Orientation will be 11 a.m.-noon Friday, Aug. 14. Faculty, teaching assistants and staff are all welcome. RSVP is helpful, but not required. * The WSU Institutional Review Board (IRB) has finalized reliance agreements with the IRBs for Via Christi Hospitals and KU School of Medicine. This means if you are faculty, staff or a student at WSU and are collaborating with investigators, using resources or performing study activities at these locations, you can fill out one set of IRB forms. * To help students with registration, fee payment and financial aid questions during the weeks of Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, the Office of the Registrar, Office of Financial Aid and Accounts Receivable will offer extended hours from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Assistance is also available for students through the WSU OneStop from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays in 122 Jabara Hall, or by calling 855-WSU-1STP.

* To observe the Perseid meteor shower in a dark location with other meteor-watching enthusiasts, Lake Afton Public Observatory will be open from midnight-3 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. There is no charge for watching the meteor shower outside, but if you join us inside the observatory, regular admission charges apply. In honor of the meteor shower, anyone who comes in the observatory with some form of appropriate shower attire -- rain coat, umbrella, bar of soap, towel, etc., will receive $1 off regular admission.
