* Sweet Celebration, a celebration of culture and diversity, will be held from 6-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 19) on the RSC east patio and courtyard. This program is co-sponsored by the Black Student Union, Hispanic Leadership Organization, Asian Student Conference, Spectrum LGBT & Allies, Muslim Student Association and the Multicultural Greek Council. * Join the Student Activities Council and International Student Union as we say Aloha to a new school year at an Aloha Beach Party from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, on the RSC east courtyard. Enjoy activities like a blow up slip-n-slide, a mechanical surf board, beach volleyball, water balloon toss and many more Hawaiian themed party games. This event is sponsored by SAC and the International Student Union.
* Students have two options to buy a parking permit, online or in person in Student Accounts in 201 Jardine Hall. Credit/debit purchases can be made online at http://www.wichita.edu/parkingpermit, and the permit will be available to pick up after 10 a.m. the next business day in the Student Accounts office in 201 Jardine Hall. In-person purchases can be made with cash or check in 201 Jardine Hall, and the permit will be issued at the same time.
* The Office of the Registrar, Office of Financial Aid and Accounts Receivable will offer extended hours from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 19) and Thursday, Aug. 20. Assistance is also available for students through the WSU OneStop in 122 Jabara Hall from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays or at 1-855-WSU-1STP.
* SGA and the vice president of Student Affairs will sponsor a new competition at convocation this year -- the show your Shocker spirit photo competition. The best individual photo will be awarded a grand prize. The best group photo will win a pizza party. Convocation will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, in Charles Koch Arena. * Auditions for the fall semester in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Arts Ensemble and Shocker Sound Basketball Band are being held. Visit Duerksen Fine Arts Center to sign up for an audition slot. Jazz Band audition times are by appointment with Geoffrey Deibel, and Shocker Sound auditions will be held Friday, Sept. 11. All other band auditions are now to Thursday, Aug. 20. Honorariums are available for the basketball band. No tuition is assessed for band course enrollments. Prior band experience needed. Shocker Sound invites any and all players to join us at convocation Tuesday, Aug. 25, for a short appearance. Sign-up is located in Duerksen Fine Arts Center by the bands' GTA office, C114.
