Reminders, deadlines and events

* It is estimated that at any given point, about 20 percent of the population suffers from a mental disorder, however, less than half are being treated by a professional. Consider taking a Mental Health First Aid Workshop to help individuals better identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues through the Counseling & Testing Center. Upcoming dates are 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23 and 30 (must attend both dates). Register by 5 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 20) by going to myTraining.

* Erbert and Gerbert's Bistro has changed its opening to Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Rhatigan Student Center. Erbert and Gerbert's is a sandwich shop serving gourmet sandwiches and soups to students, faculty, staff and the Wichita community.

* Faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the assessment being conducted in Student Involvement from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Marcus Welcome Center, Clark Room. A discussion will center on the learning outcomes, tools and information gained through this assessment on student learning, event-based data and information learned from participating in the Skyfactor (formerly EBI) National Student Activities Assessment. * To tell the world about your activities, research, accomplishments/awards, presentations, publications and upcoming events, complete the form at http://www.wichita.edu/submitinfo. When submitting news and information check for misspellings; spell out acronyms in the description; check facts like spelling of names, phone numbers, addresses, etc.; and if you include URLs in the description, check to be sure they go to a working website.

* On Monday, Aug. 31, Lois Tatro will present WSU Finance 101. If you have questions regarding the finance process you would like Tatro to cover, send them to training@wichita.edu by Wednesday, Aug. 26. * The State of Kansas offers free flu shots for employees and their spouses (employees' children are not eligible) who have a Caremark/State ID number. Clinics will be held 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in 261 RSC (Olive Room). Fill out a consent form and bring it with you. * Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity is hosting a Back to School supplies drive. Help deserving children start the school year with the necessary supplies by contributing school supplies now through Sunday, Aug. 23.
