Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* The Cultural Ambassador Program (CAP) is back again this semester with their series "Travel the World with CAP." A panel will discuss "U.S. stereotypes about my country, my country's stereotypes about the U.S.," at noon today (Friday, Aug. 21) in 142 RSC. Bring your lunch and travel the world without ever leaving WSU.

* Gather under the night sky and explore the films of India at 8:30 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 21) at Duerksen Amphitheatre. Presented by the Ulrich Museum of Art and the Office of the President, the Tallgrass Film Festival: Spotlight on East Indian Cinema will kick off during WSU Welcomefest with the film "3 Idiots," a comedy about college friends bucking the flailing higher education system. Rain location is the CAC Theater.

* WSU is rolling out its Lifelong Learning Program for senior citizens this fall. With five new classes being held at retirement communities and senior centers around the city of Wichita, residents and members of the community 60 years of age or older can audit these classes without paying tuition (some workshop fees may apply). * The Fall Institute for Student Learning Assessment at Kansas State University will be held Nov. 12-13. A call for proposal for those interested in presenting is due Tuesday, Sept. 8, and can be found at the institute website at

* Help make a difference in a child's life. Join us for a fund raiser to aid those with autism and speech, language and hearing disorders, with proceeds to support children at WSU's Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, a RiteCare Clinic. The Mystery Theatre production "Murder at Venue332, Death by Champagne & Chocolate," will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at 332 E.
