Reminders
* The next "WSU Day at KLC" will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, at the Kansas Leadership Center. The day provides a general orientation and interactive style to KLC ideas and their applicability to our settings at WSU. Faculty and staff in WSU departments and units are encouraged to attend this program together. Participants must register in advance through a secured KLC web link. * The Fall Institute for Student Learning Assessment at Kansas State University will be held Nov. 12-13. A call for proposal for those interested in presenting is due Tuesday, Sept. 8, and can be found at the institute website at

* The Big Data at WSU conversation got underway recently with a gathering of more than 50 individuals from the WSU community. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4072 to see the agenda and copies of speaker presentations. To get involved in the conversation, fill out the Big Data Interest Survey at the same link. NOTE: the survey will close on Friday, Sept. 11, so please take the time to add your voice.
* The University Bookstore will host a patio sale from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 26) and Thursday, Aug. 27, on the RSC north patio. Stop by for some great deals on your favorite Shocker gear. Also this week in the University Bookstore, save 10 percent on all school and art supplies (excluding electronics).
* The installation of the Tom Otterness group sculpture "Makin' Hay" will be publicly unveiled from 11 a.m.-noon Thursday, Aug. 27, at the intersection of Mike Oatman Drive and Perimeter Road. "Makin' Hay" is on loan to the Ulrich Museum of Art from the Alturas Foundation and will be at WSU through the summer of 2017. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?4074 for more information.
* Department Timekeepers: Pay Period #19 will have an unscheduled early sign-off at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28. Please make sure that any record that should be paid is "Approved" no later than 10 a.m.
