* Department Timekeepers: Pay Period #19 will have an unscheduled early sign-off at 10 a.m. today (Friday, Aug. 28). Please make sure that any record that should be paid is "Approved" no later than 10 a.m.

* This week's Cultural Ambassador Program presentation at noon today (Friday, Aug. 28) in 142 RSC, will feature a group panel on "Youth culture in my country." Bring your lunch and travel the world without ever leaving WSU, as CAP members from several countries talk about the lives of youths in their countries.

* Join SGA and Student Involvement for a send-off party for Miss Kansas, Wichita State's own Hannah Wagner, from 1-2 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 28) on the RSC east patio. Wagner will be leaving soon to compete at the Miss America pageant. Food and entertainment will be provided. Wagner will speak about her platform, The Bold Initiative, her time as a Shocker and her future plans as Miss Kansas. Wagner plans to return to Wichita State after the competition.

* The School of Music presents a Rising Star Showcase Recital at 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Aug. 28) in Wiedemann Hall. Prize-winning pianist Andrey Ponochevny, Bronze Medal winner of the 2002 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, will perform. * The Human Resources employment team will be out of the office for team development on Monday, Aug. 31. To ensure that your employment needs are met in a timely manner, please anticipate your employment needs and contact the team today (Friday, Aug. 28) for assistance. The employment team will be back in the office Tuesday, Sept. 1, and will respond to all email and voicemail messages at that time in the order they were received.

* Kansas NSF EPSCoR announces a funding opportunity for First Awards in the areas of climate or energy research or atomic/molecular/optical science. Letters of intent are due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and proposals are due by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26.
