WSU Foundation news on deferred maintenance tax credit program

The WSU Foundation board recently approved a reduction in the minimum contribution to the Higher Education Deferred Maintenance Tax Credit Program from $20,000 to $5,000. The action was taken to make participating in the program more attractive, thus encouraging additional donors. In addition, more WSU donors would have the opportunity to take advantage of tax credits.

A total of 26 buildings on the WSU campus have been identified for the Kansas Board of Regents State University Five-Year Maintenance Plan. The Kansas law that created the State Educational Institution Long-Term Infrastructure Maintenance Program includes the authorization of tax credits effective for tax years 2008-2012 for contributions earmarked for deferred maintenance at WSU. The tax credit program provides for a tax credit in the amount of 50 percent of the contribution (in accordance with program requirements) to the WSU Foundation for deferred maintenance.
