* Faculty and staff are invited to hear the first of three candidates for dean of the Graduate School in an open forum from 4-5 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 10) in 107 Clinton Hall. The first candidate is Dennis Livesay, professor, Department of Bioinformatics and Genomics and interim associate dean, College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. * Residents of the Fairmount area are invited to the Shocker Neighborhood Kickoff at 5 p.m. today (Thursday, Sept. 10) with food and festivities in Fairmount Park, followed by a discussion at Fairmount United Church of Christ. Faculty, staff and students living in the community are encouraged to attend.
* The Business Advising Center in Clinton Hall will be closed for staff development Friday, Sept. 11.

* Faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the assessment being conducted in Student Involvement from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in Marcus Welcome Center, Clark Room. A discussion will center on the learning outcomes, tools and information gained through this assessment on student learning, event-based data and information learned from participating in the Skyfactor (formerly EBI) National Student Activities Assessment. * WSU has been selected as a member of the 2015-16 NASPA Lead Initiative (http://www.naspa.org/rpi/lead-initiative). WSU will be part of a group of nearly 80 institutions dedicated to promoting civic learning and democratic engagement as a core function of the divisions of student affairs and academic affairs. The Service-Learning team -- Rhonda Lewis, Natalie Grant and Chelsea Redger -- will work with this initiative as part of the year four cohort.
