A grant from the Kansas Health Foundation is being used to improve the safety and quality of life in neighborhoods surrounding Wichita State, starting with the area south of campus known as the Fairmount neighborhood. Residents of the Fairmount area are invited to the Shocker Neighborhood Kickoff at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 with food and festivities in Fairmount Park, followed by a discussion at Fairmount United Church of Christ.
