* There will be a test of the ShockerAlert System around 1 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 18) to ensure that campus-wide emergency communication channels are functioning properly. All faculty and staff are encouraged to register their cell phone numbers to receive ShockerAlert messages. * Assistant Professor Mark Walsh will present "H-Spaces, Loop Spaces and Scalar Curvature," at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 18) in 372 Jabara Hall. The presentation is part of the lecture series in the Mathematical Sciences. Refreshments will be available prior to the lecture at 2:30 p.m. in 353 Jabara Hall.

* Erbert and Gerbert's in the RSC will offer a free fountain drink with sandwich purchase today (Friday, Sept. 18). Plus, for every sandwich you purchase this week, you will be entered to win free sandwiches for a semester.

* Learn how trademarks, copyrights, patents, domain names and business name registrations all differ and more. Trademark Basics will be offered from 2-3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in the lower level of Ablah Library. Light refreshments will be provided. * The Instructional Design and Technology Department offers an ongoing series of training events for faculty. Each session is one hour at the Media Resources Center. Check the September calendar on myWSU (myTraining) to register for currently offered sessions. "Tiny Desk: Branding your Online Class," will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Your brand tells students what they can expect from the course in your college.

* KMUW offers free calendar strips for computer monitors, desk edges and cubical walls. The 2015-16 academic year-at-a-glance calendar is a handy reference, and adheres to just about any surface. Calendars are 13.5 inches by 1 inch. Anyone wanting one or more for your department should call 978-6789 or send an email request to info@kmuw.org.

* Student Health will open at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

* The next "WSU Day at KLC," will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at the Kansas Leadership Center. The day provides a general orientation to KLC ideas and their applicability to our settings at WSU, presented in a highly interactive style.
