* Photo-based artist Annu Palakunnathu Matthew will present artwork that explores her experiences of living between cultures -- England, India and the United States -- in a program at 6:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 25) in the CAC Theater. A reception will be held prior to her presentation at 5:30 p.m., in the Ulrich Museum.
* Do you have a favorite song that you want to hear on piano? Come take over the RSC with Student Activities Council at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 25) first floor, in a coffee house environment as you listen to two pianists battle it out over music covers from popular artists.
* WSU's School of Performing Arts presents the musical revue "Smokey Joe's Cafe," 7:30 p.m. today (Friday, Sept. 25) and Saturday, Sept. 26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in Wilner Auditorium. * Join us for a free lunch and hear from Mark Ruelle, CEO of Westar Energy, from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in 233 RSC. Ruelle will share what it takes to be part of a diverse and growing company and answer any questions you may have. * Student Conduct & Community Standards asks students to submit ideas for a new slogan. The slogan will be used in marketing, outreach and on promotional items. Submissions are due by Friday, Oct. 16. Contact Tim Cason at tim.cason@wichita.edu for more information about the office and contest. The winner will receive $100 in restaurant gift cards.
* Create the official Shocker Sandwich from Erbert and Gerbert's Bistro in the RSC and win $150 in Shocker Dollars. Submissions for sandwich recipes will be accepted through Monday, Oct. 19. Go to http://www.egbistro.com/wichitastate to create your Shocker Sandwich submission.
* If you have a passion for fitness and wellness and would like to learn the knowledge and skills needed to apply that passion, we have the job for you. Campus Recreation's personal trainers work one-on-one with clients to help them meet and maintain their fitness goals. If you are interested in learning how to become a personal trainer, training is completely free. Workshops will be hosted from 1-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 23 and 30. * You are invited to participate in the third biannual Wu's Big Event at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Wu's Big Event III is WSU's volunteer initiative with the goal of getting students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university involved in a day of service. The day will contain a kickoff, three hours of service and reflection. A light breakfast, lunch, T-shirt and transportation from the university will be provided to volunteers. An exciting addition to Wu's Big Event III includes the ability to participate in an Interfaith service site.
