College of Education to receive Impact Award

The College of Education and Wichita Public Schools have been selected to receive the 2015 Dr. Shirley S. Schwartz Urban Education Impact Award, for the Wichita State University Professional Development School Program. The award is presented by the Council of the Great City Colleges of Education, an affiliate group of deans working with urban school leaders.

The award honors an outstanding partnership between a university and an urban school district that has had a positive and significant impact on student learning. The College of Education and Wichita Public Schools will jointly select a student to receive a two-year scholarship. The student is someone who has graduated from Wichita Public Schools and either will attend or presently attends WSU.

The award presentation will be held at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in Long Beach, California, in conjunction with the Council of the Great City Schools' Annual Fall Conference.
