Beware of scammers calling and visiting offices on campus. Reportedly, individuals have walked into offices and stated that a service call has been placed for the copier along with an order for toner. Canon and Oce copiers on our campus have a prepaid maintenance contract providing for service calls and toner. WSU has a policy that all ink cartridges or toner cartridges for printers must be purchased from Central Services (except Canon and Oce Copiers). These consumables should not be purchased by departments. Train the staff who answer the phone to be courteous but firm. These vendors are calling to force the purchase of toner cartridges. Sometimes they have the name of someone in the department, and many times they know what brand and model of copier is in the office and state that they are going to ship toner. Be aware of these clever tactics.
